Who We Are

Welcome to Optimal Quality Strategies, LLC! Our team of experienced quality practitioners in the automotive industry is dedicated to delivering exceptional results. With over 35 years of experience, our consultants have a deep understanding of engines and have successfully launched numerous iconic engine programs, including the Gen4 Small Block and the Duramax. We have also overseen the global launch of engine programs such as the Fam1 engine in the Chevy Sonic, BDOC in the Spark, and the Small Gas Engine, introducing 13 variants across five regions, globally.

One of our notable achievements is leading a product engineering team including the calibration team for a complex diesel engine program. Through meticulous analysis and the implementation of multiple DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) projects, we were able to drastically reduce warranty claims for the 2022 model year, reaching record-low levels. Our expertise in identifying high-risk areas and applying appropriate quality tools (eg DFSS) and methods, not only will yield immediate improvements for current products, but also can and should be used for future programs.

At Optimal Quality Strategies, we consistently utilize multiple tools to identify and resolve issues, including DFSS, Red X, DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), and PFMEA (Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) analysis. We pride ourselves on being early adopters and implementers of these tools within the engine launch process, surpassing the defined industry standard by a year. In the field of manufacturing, we have extensive experience in utilizing Graphical GR&R (Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility), Control Plans, and Control Charting as effective means to manage processes. Our collaboration with manufacturing engineering and NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) engineers has led to successful implementations of specialized tests, such as the Hot Test to identify and contain concerns.

Furthermore, at Optimal Quality Strategies, we have the capability to lead and coordinate spill calls with executives, providing effective communication and regular high-level summary updates on any specific spills that may occur.

Our accomplishments include being recognized as DFSS Black Belts, Red X Apprentices, and receiving industry accolades such as the 2016MY Ward's Top 10 Engine Volt - Quality representative and the 2005 Chairman Honor's Award - Active Fuel Management (AFM). We have also supervised statistical process personnel and mentored Quality Engineers, showcasing our commitment to developing talent within the industry.
